Dear God...
This Scripture is from Colossians 1 in the Bible. Below each verse, is my response back to God. Also known as a prayer. I invite you to consider your own.
Colossians 1: 10: “so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,”
> Dear God…thank you for everything. I’ll do my best.
Colossians 11: “being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,”
> Dear God…no matter how tough it gets or for how long, I know you’re with me all the way through it.
Colossians 12: “and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”
> Dear God…thank you for the promise of everlasting life.
Colossians 13: “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,”
> Dear God…thank you. I’m a new person with Jesus. Less blind, less deaf; when I find myself walking in the shadows, more apt to cross over to the bright side of the road.
Colossians 14: “in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
> Dear God…it’s worth repeating, thank you for the promise of everlasting life!
Colossians 15: “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”
> Dear God…we saw a glimpse of you through your son Jesus, and it changed the world forever. Jesus got angry and impatient. He could be sarcastic. He was insistent on right and wrong; direct and uncompromising. A teacher who practiced what he preached with love and forgiveness. He showed mercy and compassion and kindness and justice. So, how are we supposed to live? Jesus told us. He said we should love God and love each other. That is not me saying it, or some preacher or some guru or spiritual coach saying it. As they say in British racing circles, it is straight from the horse’s mouth, meaning, that the best intel on a race is not the tip sheets or the riders or the bookmakers. The best information comes from the source.
Colossians 16: “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”
> God is B-I-G. God’s love is big. Whatever shiny thing in this life that catches our eye, God is bigger.
The song pairing is “My God Made the World.” Until next time, say safe, be brave and keep walking toward the light.
My God Made the World
My God made the world
and everything in it,
He is the Lord of heaven and earth
My God made the world
and everything in it,
He is the Lord of heaven and earth
and no matter how far you search
the circle closes with Him, now understand
He does not live in temples built by human hands
let me tell you folks about my Lord
My God made the world
and everything in it,
He is the Lord of heaven and earth
My God made the world
and everything in it,
He is the Lord of heaven and earth
He will judge in fairness
through his good Son Jesus, He forgave
He is like nothing human hands have ever made
let me tell you folks about my Lord
My God made the world…
This God He gives life,
this God He gives hope
from a strong foundation,
this God, well He did make all creation
let me tell you folks about my Lord
My God made the world…
This God spins planets
this God moves the seas
and with a little belief
this God He is always within reach
let me tell you folks about my Lord
My God made the world…
